Still alive...
Well, that didn't last very long, did it.
Catherine and I did end up buying a house almost exactly between our jobs, and it's a 15 minute bike in, and a 20 minute bike home, and I'm slowly getting back into shape so I can do that faster. We took some pictures during a walk through in April, but much has changed since then. We have started by repainting the kitchen, and went with a color from Olympic called "Indiana Clay." Its strange having a room painted a color like that, but I kind of like it.
And then on to the topic that has all of my friends making fun of me... my dehumidifier talks to Twitter.
It posts to the MWWDehumid account, using an Arduino tethered to my EeePC. The source, including schematic, Python poller, and Arduino code, are all up on its Github Repo
So before every one says "why don't you just run a hose to your sump pit." the pit doesn't drain out on its own. The only way out is evaporation, or with the pump. During the summer months, there isn't any water in the pit, so the pump hardly ever runs. So any dehumidifier droppings would evaporate before they collected enough to trip the pump, and evaporated water (also known as humidity) is what the dehumidifier is trying to remove.
Basically, this is just supposed to be an extension of the bucket full light, with some more Mark-style creativity around it.
Pics of the kitchen and dehumidifier coming soon. I promise.
